I saw this video a long time ago before the filmmaker added the music or the foley sound effects. I wish he'd been able to use John Williams' original score, or at least something that sounded more like it.
The video is fan-freaking-tastic and the visuals are incredible--but still, the music really doesn't fit.
I can see your point, and it is entirely valid, but I think that this actually works better with the alternate music. Of course, I'm the guy that used to listen to KISS while playing Final Fantasy 7, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. ;)
